Liverpool Serviced Apartments

The Casartelli Building lies at the centre of one of the largest urban regeneration projects in Europe. Originally the location of a famous scientific instrument manufacturer, this grade-II listed building lay derelict for many years before being rebuilt in faithful replica and to the highest contemporary specification as a mixed-use retail and residential development.

Contract Value: ?6m
Date: Completed 2007
Local Authority: Liverpool City Council

A gateway to Liverpool's historic Ropewalks district, the Casartelli building also faces Grosvenor's £900m Paradise Street development, at the heart of the new Liverpool and in the buffer zone of a World Heritage Site.

The Challenge

The original historic building was subject to a public campaign for preservation, structural surveys revealed however that the building was regrettably, beyond repair.

The subsequent new build was completed however to exacting conservation standards on this high-profile site and released as 30 apartments, including two penthouses, together with retail units to ground floor with associated underground carparking.

Our Solution

Working with the client, design team and sub-contractors, Consolux specified the comprehensive building services requirements including underfloor heating, air conditioning, lighting and pumped stored water.

As part of the telecoms and data cabling requirement the apartments were also pre-wired for HiFi equipment and Plasma TV.

The underground car parking on two floors was equipped with a smoke ventilation system and the upper floors served by a fire fighting dry riser.
