Regents Park car stacking system

A high-specification, mixed-use conversion of office to residential with a feature car-stacking system.

Contract Value: ?2.5m
Date: 2008
Local Authority: City of Westminster

Context

A former office building in a dense urban site on the border of Regents Park was the subject of a substantial conversion into high-quality offices and residential apartments with associated secure, off-street parking.

The Challenge

The property was an unremarkable steel and concrete structure but its small footprint and constrained city-centre location made the requirement for on-site parking a significant technical challenge.

Our Solution

Consolux subsequently advised on the specification, design and installation of a vertical car parking system to take advantage of the limited space available.

These works required a full excavation of the basement and the installation of a hydraulic ramp car-stacking system, one of only a few of its kind currently operational in the UK.

The associated office and residential works required design of the mechanical and electrical services featuring a full range of energy-efficient heating, lighting and cooling systems together with high specification security and access controls for all public areas, concierge and accommodation.
